Why you shouldn’t go to the bank to deposit cash into your Church’s Bank

Question: If you pay your Tithe/Offering via bank transfer, do you call your Pastor or your Church’s accountant to confirm if they have received the credit?

Now, if you go to the bank with cash to deposit it into your Church’s bank account, how will you confirm that the bank cashier actually deposited the money into your Church’s bank account if you can not go to the Church to confirm if they have received the money?

Last year (2021), EFFC apprehended a Bank Teller, his wife and mother-in-law for stamping deposit slips for customers and depositing their (customer) money into his, his wife’s and mother-in-law’s bank accounts. He was caught because a customer complained to the bank that the recipient of the money he sent said that he hasn’t received it.

I don’t want to make this post a long one. So, I’ll just go straight to my recommendation. If you want to send money to an organization (e.g. your Church) or individual and you know that you may not be in a position to confirm if the recipient(s) received the money, please try as much as possible to use your banking app or any other mobile banking service at your disposal to transfer the funds directly to the recipient’s bank account.

If the transaction fails, there’s a higher chance that your money will be reverted.

In a nutshell, try as much as possible to avoid making cash deposits.

If you want to make cash deposits patronize a trusted Banker or POS Vendor or just give the money to someone you trust so that they can help you make the transfer if you don’t have access to any internet or mobile banking channels. Better still, you can just drop your cash in the offering box if you are in town.

Okay, what if one Usher steals the money? Well, I will leave that to the leadership of the church. 😁
